more misery for omo fans this week. In a spirited display the champs went down again in a close one. this sets their record to 2-6 this season. however looking closer into the stats they have lost by 3 or less in 4 of those games. what is it about the crunch that makes an omo go soggy? is it;
lack of intensity?
damaged belief?
lack of leadership?
lack of skills?
their controversial rotation policy?
or just plain bad luck?
whatever it is its going to be another long lonely week of soul searching for the omo boys.
dave was BOG. hitting a 'purple patch' early in the second half, he seemed to be able to score at will, striking 3 crackers in a period of 2 minutes. when moments later omo made it 4 in a row they were up 6-5 with 7 minutes to play. it was 7 minutes to forget as omo seemed to pull that troublesome heartlidge again. the old school lads played well on the counter & went on a run of 3 goals themselves to take an 8-6 victory.

in other news jt will undergo surgery this week to extend the length of his feet sighting this as the reason for missing 3 crosses meant for the back of the net, via him. despite their run of failures one gets the feeling if omo can find some heart when it comes to the crunch, it might just change their whole season around.

Round 10 - Crushed Dreams
Omo's hopes were high and spirits were steeled for a tough game this Monday night, however Yarra Smart proved too tough to manage. The team of suspected tram inspectors treated us like they treat fare evaders; with cold, calculating aggression. A shattering loss of 8-1 sent a wide eyed Omo home wondering where did we go wrong?Doomsday Dave and Golden Germain both returned from a long break ready for business, and their youthful enthusiasm brought smiles and warm memories to fellow teammates watery eyes. A last minute fantastic fill-in was Berserker Ben, who did a great job in goals, despite what the scoreboard read. Atlantic Adam and Doomsday Dave hammered the goals on countless occasions, though were unlucky on the night. The Italian Stallion was generally a bit quiet on the night, struggling to figure out whether to defend or counter-attack. In the dying moments of the match, Atlantic boomed a shot from a sharp angle into the keeper, and from the deflection, Doomsday calmly tapped it into the welcoming back of the net. In Omo's minds, that one goal was worth 5.
BOG was Atlantic Adam who created countless chances up front, and saved our arses many times in the back.Goal Scorer

Where to now for Omo? It's a time of change, and a time for us to think of a different strategy to deal with the harsh unforgiving new world of The Pitts. Please add a comment to this post if the Omo family has any ideas on how to tackle the old men teams at Albert Park.

Round 8 - A Clean Sheet!
Oh what a night. Straight off the bat, BOG was Boom Boom Benni in goals. i don't think i have seen a better performance infront of the fish net and to keep the opposition scoreless was a feat beyond his fittness, in Ice Hockey it is called a 'Shut Out' and it was Boom Boom's message to the opposition that he was there to shut them up and send them packing, well done Boom Boom! Omo were playing to keep their finals hopes alive and it was done with aplomb (spell check). Omo FC's finals hopes are now alive and kicking.
The game was quite tight, just the way a young OMO likes it. Cannon Ball Ellis was dealing with the oppositions human octopus and found away around his wondering tenticles to fire a few shots across the enemies bow. Captain Tangles was doing his best impersonation of a crash test dummy running into the far wall with repeated blistering counter attacks down the right side, it looked wonderful. Atlantic Adam was the calm before the storm in defence, even the opposition calmed down when he had the ball at his feet. The Italian Stallion peppered the goals on numerous occasions with minimal affect on the scoreboard but more than a score on the LED display it put fear in the oppositions defence and they had to rely on rearguard action of keeping 3 defenders in their half for the best part of 36 minutes. Marathon man just kept on keeping on, he had his chances to put the ball in the back of the oppositions throat but re-invented himself as a nasty defending midfielder, he only had eyes for the ball and on countless occasions thwarted their run down the sideline. Then there was Trevor, he was there man, he would just get the ball and do someting with it, whether it looked good or bad it looked good!
All in all it was a great performance and one that should inspire all involved at OMO FC for a full tilt and run to the finals.

Round 7 - New Orange Blues

Blazing onto the floorboards in a new blinding fluoro orange, Omo pumped in a great first half. Scores were tied a 4-4 at half time, and Omo was confident we could take the game in the second. Unfortunately Omo had another close, heartbreaking defeat at our new home of the Pitts, 9-6.
James, Trevor and ring-in-Mik put in valiant efforts in goals, however John H Allstars luckily kept finding the back of the net through swinging orange legs. An ever-changing defence strategy seemed to hold Omo back, as our opponents seemed to easily sweep several through-balls past our men. Cale later queried whether a zone would do us better than man-on-man.
Overall Omo fought hard and had just as many opportunities as our opponents, yet just missed the mark.
BOG goes to Stefan who put in 3 long range goals.

C'mon Omo! Let's bust these old men at the Pitts open.
