OMO WINS 11-1

James AKA Captain Tangles returned from Vietnam to find an OMO team full of confidence and pride. The Scottish opposition was no match to the well seasoned OMO side. Ben was inspirational in goals letting only one though. After the game in a elated state Ben remarked "That was the best game ever!, we fucked them up the ass!" Matt was superb as striker as he screamed home an amazing 5 goals.

Trev, Cale and newcomer George took turns in the mid field. The on field awareness was incredible. The ball was like a OMO magnet, sticking to the boots of all players.

Germain scored the other 6 goals in a combination of swift footworks and powerful kicking.

Well done OMO - you deserve it!

We got a bye this week, but next week bring ya wallet

Hi orange men good and bad news me fraid.

Yes. We have indeedly entered a new low. what with Adam, James and Stef on the orient. Daddy duties and pre nation stopping race festivities going on. we had to forfit last week... result $140.00 fine! yay! bit of a shit that one.

anyway the week before we beat some team by 6 goals! frigging magnificant! Trev in goals, Ben(3 goals) and Germaine tearing it up and Adam (4 goals) Matt (1 goal) . with no subs... take that fluro clad trendy youngsters!. They had a player who was hogging the ball. once we sat on him.. game over

so we got a bye but on the 19th we have a 8pm match. I for one am busy darning my soccer socks in anticipation.

please bring money... maybe we need a fund raiser.

also whose in? who's away can you tell me by Thursday? so we can arrange some suitible replacements!

cheers.. Matt 2rc

Yet another 4-6 loss, but new recruits are on there way!

The best thing about this game was the come back. the score was 6-1 with 8 mins to go. Ross and Adam stormed home the goals. Who's ross you ask? He's like Stef but with a beard.
Germain AKA PRacer was like Bruce Lee in goals.
With stef away, Cale and Ben playing Mr MOM and Adam soon to leave we need more players. Let me know if you have any skilled mated who are keen to play.

All the Best

Tangles.

NEW SEASON STARTS MONDAY

G’day fellow Omoralians.
We start a new season next Monday. Starting time yet to be announced.
I heard the calls for the venue to be changed. This is a good idea for the future but unfortunaly I had signed on for another season at Albert Park a month ago.
We should go well this season.

Glad the passion is still alive.

If you want to find out more about the photo you can purchase my new novel

Hope your all good

WE'RE HERE, WE'RE LOUD, WE'RE OMO AND WE'RE PROUD!

Yarra Tram Cops 5 - OMO 3

VALIANT EFFORT CHAPS!
Omo can be pretty keen on it's self after this finals match.

After a dream like 1st half where the tight play and hard marking did not let up the men in orange suffered a bit with the injury to one of our favourite sons - Mick. Dave and Stef with Mick earlier combined 2 goals straight past there dedicated keeper while at the other end Canonball and Atlantic (what sort of soccer name is that?) kept there attack mumbling Greek cursewords at themselves and something about Bens Mum.

T-Bone was psyched for Goals.. I knew this was his night for him to put on long pants as the moment he rocked up to Rose St to pick me in the Alfa he had "Eye of the tiger" pumped to 11 using the nifty Steering wheel Volume controls.

Second Half... it could have been the fact that Dave didn't get the chance for his colonic before the match (apparantly 1 weeks notice isn't enough time for Dave to get this shit together). The Bad Ju-ju from not paying our subs before the game, or that we had to change over Goalies due to injury and Trev had to run around with capri pants on, or the fact that I felt like I was letting the ball go between my feet more than on them. Or perhaps they just got there shit together. Well anyway everyone was still quite reasonable to me after the game. I love youse all.

Goals
Adam - 3

anyway good effort for the first season in what we all agree is a pretty tough spot to play

Watch out Princess Hill (See photo's of your new home OMO)

P.S. Tangles still wants in for Northside Action!

Round 14 - OLDIE from NEWY inspires OMO TO VICTORY!!!!! 9-6

Former Newcastle resident and OMO Alumni Oldie AKA GOLDEN came back from Bahrain to play for OMO.(and have a baby) The All Stars approached the field confident has I think they worked at the same Havey Norman as the ref. Cannon Ball Ellis quickly took the jigga out of their stride as he hammed home and striking low ball. The goals cascaded from there on in as Oldie knocked in a further 3, Adam scored 2,,,1 from a near impossible angle (my vote for goal of the year), Stef did something amazing...cant remember 1 goal, james got 2 sneaky goals, one was a slight touch of BOOM BOOM’s goal keeping throw(great game benny) , mmmm thats it... all players scored a goal. A first for OMO!!!
beers and normal sized chicken parma's were had at the Cricketers arms after.

Well done omo!!! B.O.G. ----OMO, best team game so far!

Round 12 - Back With a Vengance!

It was pretty, it was sweaty and it was needed. The OMO boys played their little hearts out for a well deserved 6-1 thrashing.

BOG goes to new recruit and Everywhere Man, Mik Lavage. He scored 3 lovely goals and threw out some challenges in defence which paid off and made it a light workload in goals for Boom Boom Benny.

In only 2 rare games this season, BBB has only let in 1 goal. Of this incredible feat he simply states, "Matt and Germain let in 16 goals over two games." Also in a rare display of emotion, Boom Boom reveals "I haven't been good at anything lately... this has been my only shining light."

It's been an emotional season at The Pitts, and with only 3 wins out of 9 games, the orange wonders have been doing some soul searching as of late. But with a blindingly accurate performance from the entire team this game, the future looks exciting for our bright eyed boys.

GOALS
Mik - 3
Stefan - 2

Keep it up fellas. I can feel the glory coming on.

Round 11 - o mo indeed

more misery for omo fans this week. In a spirited display the champs went down again in a close one. this sets their record to 2-6 this season. however looking closer into the stats they have lost by 3 or less in 4 of those games. what is it about the crunch that makes an omo go soggy? is it;

lack of intensity?
damaged belief?
lack of leadership?
lack of skills?
their controversial rotation policy?
or just plain bad luck?

whatever it is its going to be another long lonely week of soul searching for the omo boys.

dave was BOG. hitting a 'purple patch' early in the second half, he seemed to be able to score at will, striking 3 crackers in a period of 2 minutes. when moments later omo made it 4 in a row they were up 6-5 with 7 minutes to play. it was 7 minutes to forget as omo seemed to pull that troublesome heartlidge again. the old school lads played well on the counter & went on a run of 3 goals themselves to take an 8-6 victory.

goal scorers

dave - 4
jt - 1
adam - 1

in other news jt will undergo surgery this week to extend the length of his feet sighting this as the reason for missing 3 crosses meant for the back of the net, via him. despite their run of failures one gets the feeling if omo can find some heart when it comes to the crunch, it might just change their whole season around.

Round 10 - Crushed Dreams

Omo's hopes were high and spirits were steeled for a tough game this Monday night, however Yarra Smart proved too tough to manage. The team of suspected tram inspectors treated us like they treat fare evaders; with cold, calculating aggression. A shattering loss of 8-1 sent a wide eyed Omo home wondering where did we go wrong?

Doomsday Dave and Golden Germain both returned from a long break ready for business, and their youthful enthusiasm brought smiles and warm memories to fellow teammates watery eyes. A last minute fantastic fill-in was Berserker Ben, who did a great job in goals, despite what the scoreboard read. Atlantic Adam and Doomsday Dave hammered the goals on countless occasions, though were unlucky on the night. The Italian Stallion was generally a bit quiet on the night, struggling to figure out whether to defend or counter-attack. In the dying moments of the match, Atlantic boomed a shot from a sharp angle into the keeper, and from the deflection, Doomsday calmly tapped it into the welcoming back of the net. In Omo's minds, that one goal was worth 5.

BOG was Atlantic Adam who created countless chances up front, and saved our arses many times in the back.

Goal Scorer
Dave - 1

Where to now for Omo? It's a time of change, and a time for us to think of a different strategy to deal with the harsh unforgiving new world of The Pitts. Please add a comment to this post if the Omo family has any ideas on how to tackle the old men teams at Albert Park.

Round 8 - A Clean Sheet!

Oh what a night. Straight off the bat, BOG was Boom Boom Benni in goals. i don't think i have seen a better performance infront of the fish net and to keep the opposition scoreless was a feat beyond his fittness, in Ice Hockey it is called a 'Shut Out' and it was Boom Boom's message to the opposition that he was there to shut them up and send them packing, well done Boom Boom! Omo were playing to keep their finals hopes alive and it was done with aplomb (spell check). Omo FC's finals hopes are now alive and kicking.

The game was quite tight, just the way a young OMO likes it. Cannon Ball Ellis was dealing with the oppositions human octopus and found away around his wondering tenticles to fire a few shots across the enemies bow. Captain Tangles was doing his best impersonation of a crash test dummy running into the far wall with repeated blistering counter attacks down the right side, it looked wonderful. Atlantic Adam was the calm before the storm in defence, even the opposition calmed down when he had the ball at his feet. The Italian Stallion peppered the goals on numerous occasions with minimal affect on the scoreboard but more than a score on the LED display it put fear in the oppositions defence and they had to rely on rearguard action of keeping 3 defenders in their half for the best part of 36 minutes. Marathon man just kept on keeping on, he had his chances to put the ball in the back of the oppositions throat but re-invented himself as a nasty defending midfielder, he only had eyes for the ball and on countless occasions thwarted their run down the sideline. Then there was Trevor, he was there man, he would just get the ball and do someting with it, whether it looked good or bad it looked good!

All in all it was a great performance and one that should inspire all involved at OMO FC for a full tilt and run to the finals.

The Italian Stallion 1

In goals with Boom Boom there were, no goals!

Round 7 - New Orange Blues

Blazing onto the floorboards in a new blinding fluoro orange, Omo pumped in a great first half. Scores were tied a 4-4 at half time, and Omo was confident we could take the game in the second. Unfortunately Omo had another close, heartbreaking defeat at our new home of the Pitts, 9-6.

James, Trevor and ring-in-Mik put in valiant efforts in goals, however John H Allstars luckily kept finding the back of the net through swinging orange legs. An ever-changing defence strategy seemed to hold Omo back, as our opponents seemed to easily sweep several through-balls past our men. Cale later queried whether a zone would do us better than man-on-man.

Overall Omo fought hard and had just as many opportunities as our opponents, yet just missed the mark.

BOG goes to Stefan who put in 3 long range goals.

OMO BEAT 'BOT' 11-5!!! First victory was a craka!

Good team effort, and a good opponent until we doubled their score and they started to threaten us with DEATH! wankers...

OMO kept their heads and Stef made them pay. One goal a heada on the ground. (disallowed)

Trev, Matt, Zeb, Adam, James and Stef patt yourselves on the back for a solid OMO victory.

Round 6 - Win to OMO

earlier this week I was distracted from my non stop porn frenzy research on the internet to hear the pleasent purr noise that I had set the mac up to inform me of an incoming email.

the email was from reichfurer captain teh "tangles" taezar. intimately informing me of a dream he had where we were apparantly "were in an exclusive rock, climbing club in new york. We went to the dunnies to do some lines of a crushed up combo of coke , cinnamon, 4 leaf clovers and dope". but then "You start to talk really loudly and we got busted by the manager... "

I'm not sure what the cool kids of the south side of town are pushing at primary school. But up here in the grim north we are used to dealing with junkies breaking in to anything that has a door or window grabbing anything worth more than your dire straits collection for prompt delivery at the local crime cash convertors. But now it seems us apartment dwellers will have to deal with all number of rock climbing hocked up break and entries from emaiciated looking South Yarra drug fuelled freaks sneaking up to our juliet balconies and stealing our collection of john laws poetry precious things.

so after checking the 2nd floor windows twice I myself fell into a fevered sleep with thoughts of scrawny men creeping through my place. I decided to visualise thoughts for a new dream. Omo were holding hands with primary school children of many races and being led onto a pitch that was a squared off MCG. where we stood to attention infront of many thousands to the sounds of the Meanies strangling vanessa amoroso on stage. after shaking hands with the ref (who looked like ed rooney in ferris buellers day) off we looked up for a second to our loved ones. just as the whistle was a the alarm went off and I went to work.. aww crap.

this thought of glory in mind I believe both my co pilots on tonights game were propelled by something more than plain glorious skills, there was sheer david copperfield magic in Zebs passive aggressive midfieldmanship and goal. Stefs karate 4 goals and .5 goal extra for being a bit of a show off (cos he can). Trev the zen cat master with the one's and two's. Adams deft touch and widow maker tackles. and the glorius Teh who withstood quarter a game in goals with death threats and penalties against and still scored 5. My Jeans weren't tight enougth though and I couldn't come up with a classic bogan goal. Some ciggies tucked in the sleeve of me omo uniform would have looked sweet but. It was sweet to see some naked aggression from the otherside though and a little bit of the old rising voices and face to face malarky to bring out the yellow card for the opposition.

Great work boyzz

Round 5 - ULA IS GAY!

With a silver fox captain who looked like he'd be better suited hugging a girl 20 years younger than him in a 'Country Road' catalogue than kicking a ball around in Albert Park, ULA beat the New OMO 4-2.

Adam snuck a classy early goal fed in by Trev. The second goal was an easy tap for James as Stef’s through ball hit it’s target. OMO went on to hit the post 5 times in the final ten. Very unlucky. Doubt we will ever loose to this team again.

Highlights; Adam was kicked in the mouth by the Silver Fox. The Silver fox appeals his penalty, “my foot was only just off the Ground!!!” Yet the player was on the ground also dick head!

GOALS
ADAM – 1
JAMES – 1

Next weeks game 6pm. A game for the artists in the group I’m guessing.

Well done OMO!

Round 4 - Super 8 Heartbreak

An amazing turnout of 8 enthusiastic Omos at a 10.40pm match last night failed to win against a team with no subs.

The game started with 4 on 4, as many Omos turned up late, but the pace quickly fastened as subs with stacks of energy came on, one after the other. Our opponents had a fill-in who dominated their forward line and scored all 4 of their goals.

Omo's goal scorers.
2 - Dave
1 - Zeb

Omo played a great game and despite having countless great shots on target, failed to get many past their adept keeper.

The Header Rules

OK, I was a little confused after all the highballs lastweek (we only been allowed to do them for like 7 years or something) so these are the rules, apparantly we are allowed to kick to over 1 foot over Cales height.

It seemed last week there were free kicks from highballs being awarded all over the place dunno, apparantly it is really simple though

That pretty well fucks up my old rightfoot cannonball shot from the side lines... anyway

see you at 10.40 mofo's

highball

Highball is not allowed at the Pit buildings. Highball is allowed at other venues under APISC control.

Highball is defined as a ball being kicked one foot higher than the tallest player on court. A free kick shall be awarded against the team that kicked the highball, from where the kick or header occurred.

Players may not lift their legs above knee high when playing a ball.

Round 3 - Tram Cop Lows

We played the large waisted tram cops and lost 9-4.

A Game of good passion though the days of going long are gone. Quick short passes in triangular formations. Picking a one man and sticking to that one man. More talk about who your on.etc etc

Goal scorers
1 Germain
1 Adam
1 Stefan
1 Cale

BOG was Germain with a great first half in goals only letting in 2.He also
scored a sneaky goal in the dying seconds of the game. Joanna was present
and by the look she gave him after scoring I think this week BOG finally
scored a ticket to Brown Town.

Next weeks game is the dreaded late one at 10:40 against 'The Nators'.

Who's in?

Should be a fun season.

Happy to be captain.
Happy to kick balls.
